The study of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) forms a fundamental area of mathematics, connecting essential strands of pure mathematics with applied and computational mathematics. PDEs play a vital role in applied mathematics, physics, and engineering, offering powerful models for a wide spectrum of real-world phenomena. Over the years, this field has grown into an active and dynamic domain of research, positioned at the forefront of modern mathematical developments, and continues to attract worldwide interest.

This conference is organized to commemorate the 65th birth anniversary of Prof. A. K. Nandakumaran, a leading expert in PDEs in the country.

The first National Conference on Partial Differential Equations and Applications (CPDEA) was first organized on March 5–6, 2020, at Periyar University, Salem. Building on its success, it has been planned to conduct this event once every five years under the same title, with the objective of providing a regular platform for researchers, academicians, and students to share knowledge, present recent advancements, and foster collaborations in this vital area of mathematics.

This conference will mainly focus on Modeling, Analysis of PDEs, Control and Inverse Problems, Direct Problems, Applications of PDEs in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science and Imaging.

The Government of Tamil Nadu established Periyar University on 17 September 1997 under the Periyar University Act, 1997. It is named after the social reformer E. V. Ramasamy (also known as “Thanthai Periyar”). Periyar University Its jurisdiction covers four districts: Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri. The Department of Mathematics is one of the departments functioning from the inception of Periyar University. The department offers programmes of study and research leading to M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees and is on a relentless march towards academic excellence. Based on the contributions towards research, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted the Special Assistance Programme (SAP), and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has granted the Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST) to this department. The department conducts research activities in various fields of differential equations, including Partial Differential Equations, Stochastic Differential Equations, Fractional Differential Equations with applications to Control Theory, Mathematical Biology and Numerical Analysis.
