A combination of Neil Simon and Anton Chekhov, The Good Doctor, a comedy with music, is, by turns, charming, hilarious, sad, and touching. It centers around a writer, who speaks to the audience and shares his writing with them. He presents them with a plethora of scenes, telling their own story, but the behavior of the characters and the resolutions of their stories are not typical or predictable. It is commonly accepted that the character of The Writer in the play is a quirky version of Chekov himself. It will make the audience laugh, cry, and feel charmed through all of the scenes. The audience will also feel quickly attached to the wide variety of relatable and strikingly human characters.
