College Park has three cheerleading squads: Freshman (9th graders), Junior Varsity (10th & 11th graders), and Varsity (11th & 12th graders).
The College Park Cheerleaders cheer for football, home district volleyball games, home district boys basketball games, and home district girls basketball games. The cheerleading season is August through February. Tryouts are in March - the week before spring break. Cheerleaders attend an overnight summer camp in late July.
Cheerleaders are expected to maintain and improve their individual skills throughout the year and in the off-season.
During football season, cheerleaders can expect to cheer at least one game per week. Cheerleaders cheer for girls volleyball district and playoff games. Cheerleaders cheer every Tuesday and Friday, or Wednesday and Saturday during basketball season.
Competition Team
Competition Team
Our competition team consists of all members of the Varsity squad, plus members of the JV and Freshman squad as needed. This team practices outside of school during the months of September-January to prepare for the UIL Spirit State Championships. They perform at various showcases and regional competitions throughout the fall semester, and compete at various High School Cheerleading National competitions across the country during the month of February including:
National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) competition in Orlando, FL
NCA High School Nationals in Dallas, TX
USA Spirit High School Nationals in Anaheim, CA
Our competition team only attends one (1) nationals competition each season.
