We are a group of four students majoring in Computer Science at Borough Manhattan Community College. Each of us always has to think about how to give a contribution to our community. Finally, we have come with an idea which is called “COVID-19 Detection Meter”: a tool to aid in social distancing.
According to the World Health Organization and the CDC, social distancing is currently the most effective way to slow the spread of COVID-19. Living in the most populous city in the country, New York City, social distancing can be difficult without the right tools and information. We sought to solve this problem by developing a location based mobile app that would be a tool to aid social distancing. With CDC data and guidelines, this app will give the user the necessary information about density in their desired destination as well as a covid self checker before they leave their homes. This app will also allow users to check in at those various locations, alerting other users the amount of people at that location. Whether traveling to the store, restaurant or even the park, all people should be able to know whether they can be socially distant at these places to curb the spread of COVID-19.
For communication purposes we made use of the following platforms:
Zoom
Discord
Google Docs
The site https://surveyjs.io/ was used for the construction of our quiz.
XCode
Watson Assistant
Firebase/Firestore - Sign up and login capabilities with user data stored in secure cloud database
Google Maps API, Places API, Apple MapKit - Map and navigation to various locations
-Markers at location indicating social distancing threshold (Green=Go, Yellow=Caution, Red=Not recommended)-heatmap-activity/density tracker
COVID-19 Symptoms checklist (Questions asked to the user to determine suitability based on certain criteria for going to various locations; if criteria met, will navigate you to location of your choice and allow you to check in. If criteria unmet, recommend staying indoors and suggest nearest known locations of covid 19 test centers in the area of the user.)

Time, experience and implementing ideas into code.
For our next step we will begin to develop the different features more. More time will also be put into our overall design and ensuring that it is user friendly.
Examples of future features:
-Users can leave reviews about how well business and public institutions are dealing with coronavirus and if they are respecting recommended rules from CDC.
-Social Distancing score for businesses based on user comments, concerns, reviews, etc.
-Geofencing-alerts user when entering a high density perimeter
Zai Li - Watson Assistant Chat bot, Graphic design and Contact Tracing.
Chanthea Quinland - Educational forum and research.
Derek Dunn - Logo design, Mobile App Interface (XCode/Swift UI).
Faton Haxhiu - Education section, and assisting the group.
