Bathroom Remodel
Customer wanted to do away with their outdated bathroom. They said the tub had been leaking since they bought the house and it stays cold, which is not very comfortable when stepping out from a warm shower, especially in winter months.
Everything had to go, so we could start new. Many of the studs were bowed and pieced in together throughout this bathroom's walls and ceilings. The subfloor was rotten through under the tub. Even the tile ceiling had to go. That's when we discovered there was no insulation in the bathroom ceiling. Between the lack of insulation and a breezy window in the current shower, it's no surprise it was staying so cold in there.
After covering the window, reframing walls where necessary, replacing the rotting sub-floor, and insulating, we started putting it back together. This was it at completion.
" The Church Job"
A local church reached out about replacing the rotten floor in the kitchen and meeting room. Although I didn't get pictures of the floor before we started demolition, roughly 16 feet by 8 feet of the back of the meeting room had to be blocked off immediately due to safety concerns. For years, the backside of the church has been inundated with rain water flowing off the neighboring hillside which in turn created wet rot on the majority of the wall and floor framing.
When the flooring was being removed, a little surprise was awaiting us on the "good" side of the floor. TERMITES! And they had been devouring the floor joists and beams. So much so that many of the wall studs had been dropping up to two inches in some areas.
