Established in 1981 as the Aamerican Colleges of Karate, our school has been the longest running martial arts dojo in Council Bluffs! With years of expanding our knowledge & practice, our style surpassed our origins and our school was officially renamed to American Colleges of Kombido in 2005.
I shall value the school, its education, tools, and equipment in all forms, never to misuse or abuse them verbally, physically, or digitally.
I shall exercise all forms of respect and manners in and out of the dojo.
I shall never misuse kombido to inflict harm upon others, it is only for times of extreme danger towards myself and others.
I shall value our mission and vision for the dojo and community.
I shall create and maintain a safe environment of training for myself and others.
I shall accept the responsibility of my own actions.
I shall value all students equally in training and coaching.
I shall exercise proper guidance in my leadership, refraining from criticism during analyses.
I shall focus on only kombido related topics in training, and refrain from engaging in external affairs on the floor.
I shall prioritize manners and respect with my instructors and peers.
I shall exercise positive sportsmanship in my training with others.
I shall respect other’s personal space and boundaries in training.
I shall respect my own body, mind and spirit, striving to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Our gi is a traditional wear specifically designed for mobility and durability to prevent rips and tears while training. Students begin their journey in an all-white gi, earning different colored belts as they improve. Once becoming a black belt, students have earned the opportunity to wear black gi pants with their choice of white or black gi top. And once a student reaches the rank of Sensei, red pants are earned.
Our gi tops are decorated with chest patches and a back patch that represent our school and association.
