Welcome to the Lafayette Elementary School Cougar Cave: A Makerspace for our students!

Thanks for joining us! We have a great opportunity to create a Makerspace in our school for the 2017/2018 school year. Maker culture emphasizes learning through doing in a social environment. By bringing together parents, teachers, and community volunteers, we hope to provide students with an exciting opportunity to reach beyond the curriculum and create!

Mission Statement

Cougar Curiosity Cave will support our school’s mission through experiential hands-on learning where students will collaborate to create, explore, tinker, and engage in innovative and project based learning.

Give Your Support

In the fall, there will be many ways you can get involved to support our mission and creation of this makerspace at Lafayette Elementary. If you want to help us immediately make this a possibility by September 1st, you may donate funds. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase three BVSD mobile maker kits to kicks, so that we can fill our makerspace with engaging and innovative materials.

Donations can be made through our online system: https://lafayetteelemen.revtrak.net/tek9.asp Contact Debbie Eck at 720-561-8904 or deborah.eck@bvsd.org with questions about how to make a donation.

The Team

The Cougar Cave will be overseen by the Lafayette Elementary School Accountability Committee (SAC), a group that addresses existing goals and helps to create new goals involving equity, achievement, climate and school operations within the framework of the school's annual Unified Improvement Plan. We'll be working hard this summer and throughout the school year to make this project a great success for our kids and teachers! Will you join us?
