Something Special for the holidays at the Cottage Grove Museum!
At the Cottage Grove Museum, we celebrate the holidays each year by illuminating our stained glass windows every evening from dusk until 10:00 pm through New Year's day.
Our windows were donated by individual residents of Cottage Grove when the building was built as a Catholic church in 1897, and created by the Povey Brothers Studio –– dubbed the "Tiffany of the Northwest" –– famous in their for their stained glass windows creations.
We invite you to add the museum
to your tour of holiday lights this season!
You'll find us shining bright each evening at the corner of Birch and H St. in Cottage Grove's historic Northwest Neighborhood.
The Cottage Grove Museum was built 1897 as Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. This unique octagonal building was modeled after a small church in Germany. The stained glass windows, designed by the Povey Brothers Stained Glass Studios, are original to the building. The parish moved in 1961 when the building was purchased and deeded to the city of Cottage Grove for use as a museum. The Cottage Grove Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Museum Annex, located next to the main museum building, houses exhibits that depict everyday life in early Cottage Grove, including a blacksmith shop, general store, a kitchen and a parlor, as well as our featured exhibit, She Survived the Titanic.
The Veley House, located across the street from the museum, houses the administrative offices, photos, and storage.
Our Featured Exhibit:

Eleanor Partin and Helen Kyle are two of hundreds of names hand stitched onto one of the the Cottage Grove Museum's collection of friendship signature quilts.
As members of the Eagle Ladies Auxilliary, Eleanor and Helen, along with 30 members of the club, each hand stitched their signature this quilt in 1935.
Please join us at the museum to see the rest of this quilt along with other beautiful examples of signature quilts. Maybe you'll discover the signature of someone you know, or even someone from your own family stitched onto one of our quilts!
