This is what is happening at CosyTaal!

August 2022: Krithika finished the data collection and analysis on Malayalam orthography. Awaiting publication.


April 2022: Krithika has finished the data collection for Bimodal study, and we have found interesting results vis-a-vis the Perceptual Load Theory. Awaiting publication.


February 2021: Great news! We have acquired a new recording room at the Dept. of HSS. As soon as the social distancing norms are relaxed, we shall be resuming the data collection for the various experiments.


February 2020: STOP PRESS!! WE ARE GOING TO MARSEILLES, FRANCE! COSYTAAL HAS A PAPER IN LREC CONFERENCE!! Congratulations to Afroz and Ankit.


January 2020: We have a new member, Ms. Krithika Nambiar who has joined us a PhD candidate.

December 2019: Submitted the manuscript to LREC. Fantastic job by Afroz and Ankit.

September 2019: Finished the data collection! 30 hours of recording! 60 hours of time spent in recording. Now comes the analysis!

May 2019: Data collected for Malayalam.

February 2019: We have a working platform for conducting the recording sessions! Received special permission from WILP to use their room for making the recording! Let the data be collected!

December 2018: Recording material has been acquired!! Now waiting for the lab to be acquired! Exciting times ahead, as we wait to begin the data collection for the accent database!

November 2018: Two fantastic students join the CosyTaal lab: Mr. Afroz Ahamad and Mr. Ankit Anand, both from Computer Science. They shall be working on setting up the experiment for running the research on accent.

January 2018: A fantastic session at the prestigious ARO MidWinter Meeting at San Francisco, USA. I was invited as a speaker for the plenary session on 'Non-Acoustic Influences on Speech Perception in Normal and Impaired Hearing', chaired by Emma Holmes and Alex Billig (https://www.conchlab.ca/people/alex-billig). I spoke on 'Factors influencing restoration of interrupted speech in cochlear implant users and normal hearing listeners'.

December 2017: Sad news. We have to retract a very important paper because of miscalculation in the preparation of speech signal. Four years worth of research gone to loss. But the experience stays! What doesn't kill you, will make you strong!

October 2017: Been invited to be the speaker at ARO MidWinter Meeting!
