In this STEM Kit, students will learn some basic concepts from physics related to levers, pulleys, and gears. These concepts allow machines to “lend a hand” and make certain jobs easier. These simple components are important because they become the building blocks of more complicated machines, helping them do their job better. This can make the machines cheaper to build, use less energy to operate, and require fewer materials to build, which can be better for the environment.
In this STEM Kit, students will utilize various devices and sensors to learn directly from their local environment. These activities will demonstrate wildfires’ impacts on Earth, renewable energy, and the health of the environment. Understanding the world around you becomes the cornerstone to environmental awareness and stewardship. Exploring these concepts will encourage critical thinking through hands-on applications, wildfire prevention, community engagement, and technological literacy.
