GL Assessment

Helping students feel prepared, confident and ready to show what they know

Many international schools use GL assessments to understand students’ academic attainment, progress and learning profile.

At Cosmo, we support students in strengthening the underlying English, Mathematics and Science skills assessed through the GL Progress Test Series, while helping them approach school assessments with greater confidence.

Assessments We Support

• PTE - Progress Test in English

• PTM - Progress Test in Maths

• PTS - Progress Test in Science

CAT4 - Understanding the Assessment

CAT4 is different from a traditional school exam.

Rather than testing a particular school curriculum, it looks at reasoning across four areas:

• Verbal reasoning

• Quantitative reasoning

• Non-verbal reasoning

• Spatial ability

For this reason, we do not approach CAT4 through intensive test drilling or memorisation.

Instead, where appropriate, we help students feel comfortable with unfamiliar problem-solving situations, develop confidence and strengthen general reasoning, vocabulary and numeracy skills through their regular learning.

Our Approach

Assessment preparation should not simply mean completing endless practice papers.

We first look at the student’s current schoolwork and any previous assessment feedback to identify areas where they may need additional support.

Lessons can then focus on strengthening underlying knowledge, addressing learning gaps and helping students become more confident applying what they know independently.

Parents are welcome to share previous GL reports with us.

These can help our tutors better understand the student’s strengths and areas that may require additional attention, allowing lessons to be more focused and personalised.
