Video Guidelines

CREE is requesting a short two-minute video from each engineering company that summarizes their experience during the design-build project. Professionalism in video is important, as this is being presented to your client who is tasked with selecting the winning company for the job.

You and your partner are making a single video for your company that includes these basic requirements:

  • Company name and logo

  • Two-minute maximum length

  • Enough footage to showcase the design-build project from the first prototype to final design, not just a single portion of it

  • Aspects of both the TOWER and the BLADES, not just one part

  • Make it clear for the viewer to know what they are looking at (i.e. Is this a phototype? The final design? What are you doing in the video? etc.)

  • Video should overall be fun, engaging, and informative

Refer to the short video guidelines and tutorials taught to you in Science Communication here.

Video Content

You and your partner have the freedom to include any videos and photos of the entire design-build project that you managed to film. You may include music, text, voice over, slow motion, fast motion, and any other features that enhance the video.

Below are some general suggestions of what the teaching team would like to see:

  • Prototype 1:

      • Initial hand sketches (pictures)

      • First round testing (video/pictures)

      • Performance index data (voltage, weight, max load)

      • Pros and cons of design

  • Prototype 2:

      • Second round Testing (video + pictures)

      • Show performance index data

      • Improvements/shortcomings

  • Final Design:

      • 2-D hand engineering drawings

      • Final Testing (videos + Pictures)

      • Show performance index data

      • Screen recordings of the OnShape modeling

  • Construction of the prototypes and/or final design

  • Usage of the provide equipment and tools (multimeter, saw and miter box, etc.)

  • Close ups and spin-around footages of the designs to visually see all aspects

  • Footage of creating any of the proposal deliverables
