Introducing Rev. Dr. Lanny C. Lawler
Lanny was born in Abilene Texas in 1952, and he is a graduate of the Abilene, Texas public schools. His educational degrees are from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, Yale University Divinity School, and Vanderbilt University Divinity School.
He has served congregations in Texas, Connecticut, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. Active in various ecumenical organizations in the communities where he has served, he has served in various capacities on the regional and general levels of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as well. After concluding an 11 year ministry as Senior Minister of North Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Columbus at the end of September, 2015, he has served as interim minister at Downey Avenue Christian Church, Indianapolis, Mt. Summit Christian Church, Mt. Summit, Countryside Christian Church, Winchester, First Christian Church, Kokomo, First Christian Church, Marion, and most recently at First Christian Church, Vincennes. For the past 7 months he has provided supply preaching at Nameless Creek Christian Church, Greenfield.
His wife Joy is also an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ. Their son Patrick graduated this Spring with double associate degrees from Ivy Tech, and he will continue his education this Fall at Indiana University, Columbus. Their three cats—Anastasia, Hedwig, and Molly--grant them live-in privileges.
