Are Students Cheating Themselves Out?

By Harrison S.

Students are increasingly cheating and this is a growing problem. According to the New York Times, it has come to the conclusion of a study that more students are cheating. Cheating is not just taking place in grade school, but the most elite colleges in the country. It has come to the attention that colleges such as Harvard have had a grand rate of cheating. Most students are breaking the level of quality that is set and has shown to be broken by even those who are succeeders. Some ways that cheating can simply be done is cutting and pasting from articles or documents, copying off other students, or searching up the answers on the internet. So, cheating is almost unavoidable in today’s society so only influence can really bring change.

Why now is cheating being done so much? Those who have studied this have come up with the fact that cheating is easier to do. When taking a poll of 20 students at Correia Middle School 8 out of 20 students had said that they cheated on tests. Also, the standards of whether cheating is good or not have been made out to not be so wrong. Who do you think could be blamed for this? Both parents and teachers can be blamed due to not strictly enforcing how wrong cheating is. Students can say otherwise whether cheating or whatever you want to call it is wrong, but you will have to accept the fact that nothing good normally comes from cheating.
