🎶 Corpus Christi Chorale Scholarship Auditions
Students interested in being considered for a Corpus Christi Chorale scholarship should prepare one solo selection that demonstrates their vocal ability, technique, and range.
Scholarship Expectations
Students who receive a Corpus Christi Chorale scholarship are expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the ensemble. Scholarship recipients must attend all scheduled rehearsals and concerts and are expected to assist the Chorale Board as needed with preparations leading up to rehearsals, concerts, and other choir activities. Continued scholarship eligibility is dependent upon consistent attendance, participation, and fulfillment of these responsibilities.
Scholarship Application
Students wishing to audition for a scholarship must print and complete the scholarship application prior to the audition date. Completed applications should be brought to the audition and submitted at that time. Please make sure all required information is filled out before arriving for your audition. The application can be downloaded from the Chorale Website or through Canvas Announcements for enrolled students.
Audition Repertoire
Prepare ONE selection from one of the following categories:
🎭 Musical Theater
A solo from a musical that demonstrates healthy vocal technique, musicality, and range.
🎼 Art Song / Classical Solo
An appropriate classical or art song selection, similar in difficulty and style to a selection from the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) repertoire.
🎤 Popular Song
An appropriate popular song that demonstrates good vocal technique, musicality, and range. Please select something that showcases your voice rather than relying heavily on stylistic effects or production.
What We Are Listening For
Auditions will be evaluated based on:
Vocal tone and technique
Pitch accuracy and intonation
Musicality and phrasing
Vocal range
Preparation and confidence
Overall potential as a Corpus Christi Chorale singer
Accompaniment
Students may sing with an accompaniment track of their choosing. Please do not audition with a track containing the original lead vocal.
⚠️Important
You do not need to choose the most difficult song you can find! Choose a piece that fits your voice well and allows you to demonstrate your best singing.
