We are Meraki: an all-female acapella ensemble that pays homage to Tijuana’s rich multicultural character. We are a group of women of different ages, backgrounds and musical training who join our voices to perform pieces in a variety of styles and languages.
Meraki was founded in July 2020 by Daria Abreu Feraud, a choir and orchestra conductor from Cuba, with 27 years of experience.
Our repertoire includes music of the Italian and French Renaissance, modern arrangements in English, popular Cuban and Mexican songs, as well as religious pieces of different periods.
Ms. Abreu is a choral conductor with decades of experience leading vocal groups in Cuba and Mexico.
She studied in choral conducting at the Conservatorio de Musica Esteban Salas in Santiago de Cuba, and holds a master's degree in orchestral conducting from the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana.
She has directed numerous ensembles, including Coro Orfeón, Coro Femenino Sirena, Orquesta Sinfónica de Oriente, Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Conservatorio Esteban Salas y la Camerata Esteban. She is currently
From 2017 until 2023, She served as president of the International "Electo Silva in Memoriam" Choral Festival in Santiago de Cuba.
Ms. Abreu is currently artistic and musical director of Promotora de las Bellas Artes, a Tijuana nonprofit.
