Our common welfare comes first....
AA service is practicing humility and carrying hope and inspiration to others. Trusted servants do not govern, but instead keep the group functioning so our primary purpose may be fulfilled- that we carry the message to the suffering alcoholic to stay sober and help others achieve sobriety. Everyone who has a desire to stop drinking is welcome in AA- tradition 3...
At Cornerstone Recovery, we provide various service opportunities for members to contribute to the well-being and growth of our group.

Meeting Host Qualifications:
Have at least one year of continuous sobriety.
Have completed the 12 steps, as outlined in the “Big Book”, with a sponsor.

Meeting Host Term:
Meeting Host Terms are six months. There will be two regularly scheduled appointments for Meeting Hosts each year:
December Group Conscience Meeting

Those interested in becoming a Meeting Host will self-nominate for the day(s) they are interested in. The GC members will review and vote on nominated Meeting Hosts.
If someone must give up their Meeting Host position during their term, a replacement may be solicited for and confirmed at the next scheduled GC meeting. Any in-term replacements would finish the current term for the Meeting Host they are replacing.
If no one self-nominates for a specific day(s) during the Meeting Host appointment period, the current Meeting Host may continue for another term.
When a Meeting Host steps aside from hosting meetings on a specific day(s) they can be added to the pool of Subs if they are interested.
Meeting Host Subs:
Meeting Host Subs will be subject to the same requirements as Meeting Hosts. Subs will be solicited on a regular basis during the regular meetings (e.g. when the next GC is announced). Those interested in becoming a Sub will submit their name (and other requirement data) to be reviewed at the next GC. Once the interested person has been confirmed they will be added to the Cornerstone text string.

Engaging in service not only helps others but also strengthens our own recovery. If you are interested in serving our group, here are available opportunities:
Chairperson: As a chairperson, you will have the responsibility of leading and facilitating group conscience meetings. The chairperson coordinates activities with other group officers — and with those members who assume the responsibility for other vital functions. The more informed that chairpersons — and other group officers — are about A.A. as a whole, the better they function. By keeping Tradition One firmly in mind and encouraging members to become familiar with all the Traditions, they will help to ensure a healthy A.A. group.
Secretary: As a meeting secretary, you will be responsible for administrative tasks related to the group's meetings. This may include taking attendance, keeping meeting records, and handling any necessary correspondence. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our meetings.
General Service Representative: GSRs participate in business meetings with other groups' representatives to share their groups' experience of carrying the AA message. They also go to meetings outside the group to ensure that the Cornerstone Group is well informed about local intergroup, area, and district activities.
Trusted Servant Roles: (Like meeting HOST)- Trusted servant roles are positions of responsibility within the group, such as serving as chairperson for group meetings, group conscience, being a group treasurer, or fulfilling other specific roles that help ensure the effective functioning of our group. These roles require dedication, commitment, and a willingness to serve the group as a whole.
Remember, service is a voluntary commitment, and each service opportunity carries its own responsibilities and time commitments. It is important to choose a service role that aligns with your skills, interests, and availability.
If you are interested in participating in any of these service opportunities or would like more information, please reach out to any of the trusted servants within the Cornerstone Recovery AA Group. They will guide you in selecting a service role that suits your strengths and supports your recovery journey.
"...In no sense whatever can its members govern or direct the group. They are servants. Theirs is the sometimes thankless privilege of doing the group’s chores..."
