This introductory workshop to Motivational Interviewing (MI) will support participants with a basic understanding of MI, and offer practical experience to trying out this approach. It is recommended learners follow up with either individual coaching or participation in an intermediate training within 2-3 months to support developing proficiency in MI.
Objectives:
To learn and understand the Spirit and Method of MI.
Identify core skills for supporting the Method of MI.
Practice the basic skills of MI through experiential activities.
Describe strategies for application of and continued practice for using MI.
Target Audience: Professionals working with clients/patients to make and sustain healthy changes. Examples include (but are not limited to): nurses, social workers, counselors, therapists, physicians, physical therapists, dietitians, etc.

This training will include a brief review of the main concepts, and is appropriate for those who are seeking further training and application of MI microskills. It is expected participants will have completed an introductory MI workshop, and have a basic understanding of the spirit and method of MI. It is recommended participants continue to engage in coaching and feedback after the workshop to support MI proficiency.

To understand the difference between change talk and commitment talk.
Identify ways to elicit change and commitment talk.
Experiential activities to encourage deeper understanding of how to support patients/clients moving through the 4 processes of MI.
Describe strategies for application of and continued practice for using MI.

This short refresher course is a review of various MI skills and concepts. It is expected that participants will already have a basic understanding of MI and will have completed an introductory or intermediate/advanced MI training. MI refresher courses will take place on a monthly basis, with topics rotating on a regular schedule.

To review various skills and the method of MI.
Experiential activities to encourage skill development.
Describe strategies for application of and continued practice for using MI.
Target Audience: Individuals who have previously learned the basics of MI but have not been able to develop skills through practice in a clinical setting, or individuals who are just looking for a refresher on various MI skills.
Cost: $60/person; early registration and group discounts available. Maximum of 15 participants.

The coaching calls focus on developing specific areas of MI skills desired by the learner (microskills, theory, blending styles, etc.) Calls last 60 minutes and can be purchased individually, or bundled together in sets of 4. Agendas and topics will be set between the MI Trainer and learner prior to the call.
Objectives:
To provide support for continued development of MI skills, and increased MI proficiency.
Target Audience: Individuals who have completed an introductory or intermediate/advanced MI training, and are looking for continued support in skill practice and development.
Cost: $50 per call. Can be completed either by phone or Zoom. Bundle of 4 calls is $175, and are recommended to take place every 4-6 weeks.

Group coaching is also available for groups of 2-5 people. A total of four sessions will take place every 4-6 weeks via Zoom. Sessions will last ~2 hours. Agenda and topics will be set between the MI Trainer and learners prior to the calls.

Target Audience: Individuals/groups who have completed an introductory or intermediate/advanced MI training.
Cost: $600 for 4 two-hour sessions with a group of 2-5 people.

MI Mentoring is available for anyone who is looking to increase experience in providing training for MI. Participants will receive monthly sessions to enhance MI proficiency and skills. Participants who are interested in attending the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) Train the Trainer (TNT) will receive guidance and support on completing the application, and will receive coding and feedback of their skills. Participants will also have opportunities as they are available to co-lead and participate in trainings being conducted by a lead trainer who is a member of the MINT.
