The Cork student housing co-operative
A student response to the accommodation crisis
We are a group of students & alumni from Cork City third-level institutions that are establishing a Student Housing Co-operative. Our aim is to provide not-for-profit student accommodation through the well-established Co-operative Model of Mutual Aid, Self-help, Solidarity & Democracy.
OUR MISSION
We aim to provide affordable not-for-profit accommodation for all students struggling with living in mainstream student accommodation or rented accommodation in Cork City.
We aim to introduce students to the Co-operative Housing Model whilst giving them a true hands-on experience of living co-operatively.
Upholding THE 7 CO-OPERATIVE PRINCIPLES:
Voluntary and open membership.
Democratic member control.
Member economic participation.
Autonomy and independence.
Education, training and information.
Cooperation among cooperatives.
Concern for community.
