We are a collective of students and alumni from Cork’s third-level institutions, coming together to take action.
In the face of rising rents, corporate landlords, and a broken housing system, we’re building something different: a Student Housing Co-operative.
Our goal is simple but powerful: to provide not-for-profit, student-run accommodation based on the values of mutual aid, self-help, solidarity, and democracy. Through the well-established co-operative model, we’re creating a sustainable, affordable, and community-led alternative to the exploitative status quo.
Reimagining Student Housing in Cork
The Cork Student Housing Co-op is more than just a housing project: it’s a movement.
We’re building a future where students are no longer priced out, pushed aside, or forced into substandard living. Our mission is to create affordable, sustainable, and student-led housing that puts people before profit.
In our co-operative, students won’t just rent a room: they own their space, shape their community, and live with dignity.
We are committed to:
Democracy – every member has a voice and a vote
Sustainability – from how we live to how we build
Inclusivity – a home for all, not just the few
Community – where support, solidarity, and shared responsibility thrive
Together, we’re proving that another way is possible.
Housing with Purpose
The Cork Student Housing Co-op's mission is to introduce students to the co-operative housing model and offer a hands-on, real-life experience of living in a space that is collaborative, sustainable, and community-led.
We believe that housing should be:
Affordable – not a source of stress or exploitation
Democratic – where every voice matters
Empowering – giving students the tools to shape their future
Transformative – creating ripples of change far beyond our walls
By putting people before profit, we’re creating a resilient, inclusive alternative to the broken rental system; one that fosters dignity, solidarity, and long-term social justice.
This is more than housing. This is student power in action.
