Welcome to CorSuit, a research platform that collects expert assessments of habitat suitability for wildlife species across the different CORINE land cover classes. This tool enables researchers, ecologists, and conservation professionals to contribute their expertise to advance our understanding of habitat suitability.
How the Assessment Works
The CorSuit assessment process is designed to capture expert knowledge efficiently and systematically:
Species Selection: Choose from predefined taxonomic groups (grouped by Order, e.g. Carnivora, Artiodactyla, Rodentia) and select your target species for assessment.
Habitat Suitability Evaluation: For each of the 44 CORINE land cover types, use interactive sliders to rate suitability on a scale of 1-100, where 1 represents very low suitability and 100 represents very high suitability for your selected species.
Confidence Rating: Indicate your confidence level in your assessment based on your knowledge and experience with the species and habitat types.
Data Contribution: Your expert assessments are securely stored and contribute to comprehensive datasets used for landscape connectivity research, conservation planning, and species distribution modeling.
Research Impact
Your contributions help build robust, expert-validated datasets that support:
Species potential distribution
Habitat fragmentation assessment
Landscape connectivity modeling
Conservation corridor planning
Climate change adaptation strategies
All assessments are stored securely and used exclusively for scientific research purposes. The platform allows for efficient evaluation of multiple species, making it easy to contribute extensive expertise to the research community.
