Low Back Symptoms

Back pain usually starts out with a general tightness across the back and hips. You may decide to reach for Nsaid's to deal with the discomfort. Gradually the tightness starts to affect other muscle groups elsewhere in the spine. You may start to notice that you are not sleeping as well. Then the pain gets worse when you start to move your lower spine.

Low Back Pain Treatment

Treatment at Core Health Darien begins with an examination and x-rays to determine if your low back pain is from a pinched nerve, a muscle spasm, poor posture, or even a chronic lower back condition. Once a proper back pain diagnosis is made we begin a lower back pain treatment protocol.

Typically we start with a chiropractic adjustment to alleviate pressure on the nerve. This would be followed by physical therapy to help ease the muscle spasms that accompany lower back problems. This would be repeated during the pain phase of treatment. When a person is starting to feel better the therapy is altered to restore proper function.

Here the home exercises are increased as the lower back muscles can be strengthened. When proper motion is restored the patient will begin to receive spinal decompression therapy to allow the spinal disc to heal, further reducing pressure on the pinched nerve. This is a brief summary of the initial treatment a patient could expect at Core Health Darien.

Let's assume you've scheduled an appointment. Please arrive a little early as some paperwork needs to be filled out. Please bring any imaging studies you have, such as x-rays or MRIs. In addition to being valuable, the information may save you time and money by saving you from having to take more tests during this visit. For a chiropractor to better understand your problem, additional x-rays or MRIs may be necessary.
