Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

내 그대를 한여름 날에 비할 수 있을까?

그대는 더 사랑스럽고 따사롭구나

거친 바람이 5월의 고운 꽃봉오리를 흔드는데

여름에 임대된 기한은 너무나 짧구나

때로 하늘의 눈은 너무 뜨겁게 빛나고

그의 황금빛 얼굴에는 종종 그늘이 진다

모든 아름다운 것은 숙명이나 변함없는 자연의 변화에

결국은 그 아름다움을 잃고 마는구나

그러나 그대의 영원한 여름은 바래지 않고

그대가 지닌 아름다움도 잃지 않을 것이니

죽음도 자랑스레 그대를 그림자로 끌어들여 방황하게 하지 못하리

그대는 이 불멸의  시 속에서 영원할 테니

인간이 살아 숨쉬고 눈으로 볼 수 있는 한

이 시는 오래도록 살아 그대에게 생명을 주리니

영혼의 끝에 걸터앉아 –
