Core Maths

Welcome to the K.E.S. Pre A Level Core Maths Course!

Curiosity, and a bit of scepticism, are the most vital qualities needed in order to gain the most out of studying Core Maths. Beyond that, this course gives a short introduction as to what Core Maths is all about and then covers the most relevant and necessary GCSE skills needed, as well as resource to help you to use spreadsheets and a calculator to greater effect.

This is an opportunity to test your current level of ability and to improve upon it if necessary. The learning of new material is beneficial, not essential.

Also included within this course are links to extension materials, if you are able to access these, you will gain a greater insight into some of the skills that the study of Core Maths will develop, such as estimation techniques; making sense of finance; and critical analysis. It is not a requirement to have covered any of this before September.
