Corbin Montenegro (he/him, b. 2004) is an award-winning composer, performer, scholar, and future educator from St. George, Kansas. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State University, where he studies voice under Jesus de Hoyos. In addition, he is a member of the school's flagship choral ensemble, Concert Choir, and also sings professionally with the Topeka, KS-based Sonus Chamber Choir. He holds membership in the National Association for Music Education; the American Choral Directors Association; Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia; and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Outside of his coursework at Kansas State, he serves as a student intern with the Flint Hills Youth Choirs' new tenor-bass ensemble, the Frontier Singers. He also has served as an intern at the Kantorei KC Summer Choral Institute and as a camp counselor at Kansas State University's Summer Choral Institute and Konza Music Academy.
As a composer, Montenegro's works have been performed by ensembles across the US and Canada. Recent awards and premieres include his composition “As I Walk Through Dew at Dawn” winning first place Champion of the Kansas State University ACDA Chapter Composition Competition; "I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes" was premiered by the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Tau Chapter Brass Ensemble in April 2026; "Oración Española" was selected for performance by the Pasadena Chorale in 2026; and "Oi Te Kaikki" was selected as a semifinalist for the Calgary-based Spiritus Chamber Choir's 2026 composition competition.
