About Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park, established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, is India's oldest and most renowned wildlife sanctuary. Located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, it spans over 520 square kilometers of diverse terrain, including dense forests, grasslands, rivers, and hills. Named after the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, the park is a part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve and is best known for being the first park to come under Project Tiger in 1973.

Home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, Jim Corbett National Park is especially famous for its population of the Bengal tiger. Apart from tigers, it shelters leopards, elephants, sloth bears, wild boars, and over 600 species of birds. The park is divided into multiple zones like Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, and Dhela, each offering unique experiences and landscapes.
