What is coral gables adult?

Coral Gables Adult Education Center makes available to members of our community a wide range of learning opportunities to help them achieve their educational goals. Whether it’s learning English, becoming computer literate, completing high school coursework, or just learning for personal growth and enrichment, Coral Gables Adult Education Center has lots to offer.

These classes are offered for individuals of all ages, skill levels and language capabilities. Students enrolling in language or computer classes have the opportunity to enhance the job skills needed to satisfy the demands of today’s world.

  • Fall (Trimester One): August 24-December 18

courses offered

Bachata, Merengue, Reggaeton, Salsa

In our course students will learn the fundamental principals of partnering, dance floor etiquette, timing, basic foot work, and other useful dance patterns.

Citizenship

Our citizenship course prepares students for success in the Citizenship interview and exam.

College & Career Readiness

Our course will challenge students to begin taking steps toward their postsecondary plans by proving them with the necessary tools for a smooth transition into college and/or the workforce, for example:

  • Oratorical Skills

  • Essay Writing

  • Research Papers using APA

  • Digital Portfolios

  • PowerPoint

  • Prezi

  • Memos

  • Google Drive/Google Docs

Culinary

Culinary students will be educated on safety, sanitation, nutrition, food preparation techniques and food preparation procedures. Our course also provides students with the tools needed to become ServSafe certified.

English Courses: Basic to Advanced

Our English courses provide English language and literacy instruction for English language learners to increase their ability to communicate in English as well as familiarize themselves with American culture.

Speech & Diction

Our course is dedicated to the study of voice production, articulation, vocal expressiveness and provides an introduction to phonetics.

GED Preparation & Test

GED stands for the General Educational Development tests. These exams are taken by individuals who did not earn a high school diploma and cover four main subject areas. Our course provides students with the tools needed to prepare for this exam. The successful completion of this test provides the same benefits as graduating high school.
