1. Introduction
CopyCut is an iOS app that allows you to save and manage text and images via a keyboard extension. It also offers a variety of fonts for use in messaging apps. By using CopyCut, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Text and Images: CopyCut collects the text and images you save through the app, including any custom text with placeholders. This data is stored locally on your device using CoreData and is also synced with iCloud for backup and cross-device access.
Clipboard Data: If you enable the Auto Paste feature, the app temporarily saves everything you copy to the clipboard for easy access (just when you open the keyboard or the app). You can delete saved clips anytime. This data is stored locally on your device using CoreData and is also synced with iCloud for backup and cross-device access.
Usage Data: We may collect anonymous data about how you use the app, such as the frequency of clipboard usage or the types of content saved. This data is used solely to improve the app’s functionality and user experience and is not associated with personally identifiable information.
Advertising Data: CopyCut uses Google AdMob to serve ads within the app. AdMob may collect data such as your device information, IP address, and advertising ID to provide personalized ads. Google may use cookies or other tracking technologies to tailor ads based on your preferences and usage patterns. This data collection is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
3. GDPR and CCPA Compliance
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): If you are located in the European Union, you have specific rights under GDPR, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to data portability and to object to the processing of your data. To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@copycut.it.
CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act): If you are a resident of California, you have the right to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we have collected about you. You can also request the deletion of your personal information and opt-out of the sale of your data. To exercise your rights under CCPA, please contact us at support@copycut.it.
4. How We Use Your Information
To Grant you Access to the Service: You can use your saved data to facilitate your texting and typing. You own your data and you are free to delete it anytime.
Personalization: The fonts and text customization features use your input to provide tailored experiences within the app. We do not read nor save what you type with your keyboard. No external frameworks are integrated in our keyboard.
Data Sharing: We do not share your personal information with third parties, except as required by law or with your explicit consent.
5. Data Storage and Security
Storage: All saved data, including text, images, and clipboard contents, is stored locally on your device using CoreData. This data is also synced with iCloud to ensure it is backed up and accessible across your Apple devices. Your data stored in iCloud is subject to Apple’s security measures and privacy policies.
Security: We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encryption where applicable. However, since iCloud is a third-party service provided by Apple, the security and privacy of your data in iCloud are also governed by Apple’s security practices.
Advertising: Google AdMob uses various technologies to collect and store information when you interact with ads displayed in CopyCut. This may include cookies or similar technologies to track your interactions with ads for the purpose of providing personalized advertising. The security and privacy of this data are governed by Google’s privacy policies.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. You can request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at [Your Contact Information]. Note that some data may be retained for legal or security reasons.
7. International Data Transfers
CopyCut operates globally, and your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data when it is transferred internationally, particularly for data stored in iCloud and managed by Google AdMob.
8. Your Rights
Access and Control: You have the right to access and manage your saved data at any time. You can delete or modify this data through the app’s settings.
Opt-Out: If you wish to opt-out of data collection or sharing, you can do so by adjusting your settings or contacting us directly.
9. Third-Party Services
CopyCut integrates with several third-party services to enhance its functionality, including:
Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display ads within the app. AdMob may collect and use certain information about you to personalize ads. For more details on how Google collects and uses your data, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
iCloud: CopyCut uses Apple’s iCloud service to store and sync your saved data across devices. Data stored in iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
10. Acceptable Use
By using CopyCut, you agree to use the app in a responsible and lawful manner. You must not use CopyCut for any improper or malicious purposes, including but not limited to:
Harassment or Bullying: CopyCut must not be used to create, send, or share content that harasses, bullies, or threatens others. This includes the use of texts, images, or fonts to target or intimidate individuals or groups.
Inappropriate Content: You must not use CopyCut to generate, store, or distribute content that is obscene, defamatory, or otherwise offensive. This includes using fonts or customizable texts to bypass content filters on social media or other platforms to post inappropriate or harmful content.
Violation of Platform Policies: CopyCut must not be used to circumvent or violate the terms of service or community guidelines of any social media or other platforms. This includes using fonts or other features of CopyCut to evade censorship or moderation tools implemented by these platforms.
We reserve the right to take appropriate action if we become aware that CopyCut is being used in violation of these guidelines. This may include disabling features, terminating access to the app, or reporting the misuse to relevant authorities or platform operators.
11. Reporting Misuse
If you become aware of any misuse of CopyCut or have concerns about the behavior of others using the app, please contact us immediately at support@copycut.it. We take reports of misuse seriously and will take appropriate action to address the issue.
12. Full Access for the CopyCut Keyboard Extension
The CopyCut keyboard extension offers various features that enhance your experience, especially for VIP users who have access to paid content. However, to unlock certain advanced functionalities, you may be asked to enable "Full Access" for the keyboard. Here’s what you need to know:
Enabling Full Access: If you are a VIP user, enabling full access is required to access your purchased content directly from the keyboard. For non-VIP users, allowing full access is optional. The keyboard will function properly without full access, but enabling it provides additional features, such as auto-pasting clips directly from your keyboard.
Why Full Access is Necessary: Certain features, like auto-pasting content from your clipboard (such as text and images), require access to the data stored in your pasteboard. Apple mandates that users give explicit permission for developers to access this type of data, which is why full access is necessary for these features to work seamlessly. If you prefer not to enable full access, you can still use these features by opening the CopyCut app directly.
Privacy Concerns: We understand that you may have concerns about what full access entails. We want to reassure you that enabling full access does not allow us to monitor or collect what you type. Apple automatically disables custom keyboards when entering sensitive information, like passwords, to protect your privacy. Moreover, Apple has strict guidelines that prevent any app from improperly accessing user data, and we fully comply with these regulations. For more information, you can review Apple's guidelines here (see paragraph 4.1).
Should You Enable Full Access? The decision to enable full access depends on your specific needs. If you are a VIP user, enabling full access is necessary to access your paid content. If you want to use features like Auto Paste or create new clips directly from your keyboard, full access will enhance your experience. However, if you are satisfied with the basic functionalities, you can continue using the CopyCut keyboard without enabling full access.
By providing this level of transparency, we aim to give you control over your experience while ensuring your privacy and security are protected.
13. Children’s Privacy
CopyCut is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
14. Limitation of Liability
By using CopyCut, you acknowledge and agree that the app is provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We make no guarantees that the app will meet your requirements, be error-free, secure, or operate without interruption.
You agree that your use of CopyCut is at your own risk, and you assume full responsibility for any loss or damage that may result from your use of the app, including but not limited to, any loss of data, financial loss, or damage to your device.
No Responsibility for User Content: We are not responsible for any content you create, save, or share using CopyCut. This includes but is not limited to, text, images, and fonts. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the app complies with all applicable laws and regulations and does not violate the rights of any third party.
No Liability for Misuse: We disclaim any liability for any misuse of CopyCut by users, including any use of the app that violates this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service, or the terms of service of third-party platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, using the app to harass, bully, or otherwise harm others, or to bypass content filters and moderation tools on social media or other platforms.
No Indirect Damages: In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including, without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the app.
This limitation of liability applies to the fullest extent permitted by law and remains in effect even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and we will notify you of significant changes through the app. Your continued use of the app after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new policy.
