HEATING, VENTILATING, & AIR CONDITIONING Level One 5th Ed.
OBJECTIVE: The HVAC program introduces students to the knowledge and
technical skills of the HVAC industry, inclusive of the following:
Module 03101: Introduction to HVAC
Module 03102: Trade Mathematics
Module 03103: Basic Copper and Plastic Piping Practices
Module 03104: Soldering and Brazing
Module 03105: Basic Carbon Steel Piping Practices
Module 03106: Basic Electricity
Module 03107: Introduction to Cooling
Module 03108: Introduction to Heating
Module 03109: Introduction to Air Distribution Systems
TEACHER POLICIES/CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN:
1. Cell Phones are to be placed in backpacks or the cell phone pouch provided before entering classroom. Phones will be confiscated and turned into the main office, as per School policy, if the student has it out. This will be non-negotiable.
2. Students are responsible for bringing their writing supplies each day.
3. Students who are not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings will be counted tardy. Tardies will result in after school detention and possible suspension.
4. While in the classroom, students will be expected to act in a calm and orderly fashion to provide all students with an atmosphere for learning. (no vulgar or disrespectful talk will be tolerated)
5. While working in the shop students must follow all the rules in order to provide a safe working environment for themselves and others. THINK!!! Safety has no quitting time. Horse play will not be tolerated.
6. Students will need proper footwear when working in the shop area and will be expected to wear all appropriate PPE as well. (No Exceptions)
RULES AND REGULATION/POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:
Students will follow all rules and policies outlined in the Campus handbook by Harlingen High School South.
LATE WORK:
Students will be allowed to make up any missed assignments, quizzes, tests and /or training. This must be done within one week after the missed assignment.
GRADING:
Students will be graded on a scale of 0-100 on performance, quizzes, classwork and tests. Homework, if given, will also be graded on the same scale.
Tutoring:
Students will have the opportunity to be tutored after school from 4:15pm-5:15pm as per appointment. (Except on Holidays)
