Best Buddies is an international nonprofit organization that was founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in 1989. Best Buddies exists in 50 states and over 50 countries around the world
On our campus, Best Buddies is an organization that helps to break down the barriers between students with and without disabilities. Your school chapter has student officers and faculty advisers who plan meetings and events. These chapter leaders also help to support the chapter's one-to-one friendships.
What happens when I join?
Once you join Best Buddies, you may be matched in a one-to-one friendship between a student with and a student without a disability. Throughout the year, matched buddies will keep in touch and hang out at least twice a month. A buddy pair's one-to-one outings will allow them to get to know each other better. Buddy pairs can spend time doing whatever they both enjoy! One of their two hangouts can be the monthly group meeting to socialize with the entire Coppell Best Buddies Chapter
A few reasons to join include:
Make new friends!
Have fun!
Make a positive impact in someone's life.
Help eliminate stereotypes about people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Become a role model in your school and community.
Develop leadership skills and gain experience for the future.
