The Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization comprised of members from the local community who give freely of their time to instill pride in our students in a manner that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. In addition, the Cooperative Scholarship Fund sponsors financial aid workshops to assist parents and students seeking financial aid from others sources.
As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generous tax-deductible donations of companies and individuals who help us to provide this valuable service to the community. Many thanks to all who have helped to make an investment in the lives of Ossining High School African-American graduating seniors.
Our History:
The Cooperative Scholarship Fund of Ossining was founded in 1963 to help students' dreams of college come true. The organization was started by Mrs. Reba Slaughter, a parent, and the late Mrs. Helena Jones, a mathematics teacher at Ossining High School.
Over the years, the Cooperative Scholarship Fund has given scholarships, incentive, and book awards to hundreds of eligible graduates who have applied. The first financial air award totaled only a few hundred dollars. The Fund has now distributed thousands of dollars in scholarships, incentive, and book awards.
