RESEARCH INTERESTS

Broadly, my research interests lie in the interplay between socio-cultural context and child development. In particular, I am interested in how culturally shaped ideas, experiences and interactions influence children's socio-cognitive development. My PhD research focused on the development of culture-specific attention in children from urban Germany, urban Japan and rural Ecuador, and the influence of verbal attention guidance as a possible socialization mechanism. In this postdoctoral position, I will continue this cross-cultural perspective and investigate the relationship between the development of prosocial motivations and normative rule violations in different cultural contexts.
