Artist Statement
My work lives at the intersection of intuition and exploration. Using mixed media, mark making, and collage I create layered compositions that embrace spontaneity and imperfection. I began my artistic journey in fine arts school, where I developed technical skills but ultimately left believing I could not be an artist because of the rigid rules I encountered. Many years later, I returned to creativity on my own terms, freely and comfortably embracing my Artist identity and encouraging others with the urge to create to do the same. A recent diagnosis has profoundly shaped my perspective. Rather than focusing on what may come, I choose to live fully in the present. For me, that means making art every day—engaging deeply with each moment, each mark, each layer. In an era of increasing reliance on artificial intelligence, my work is a quiet act of resistance. I preserve what others might call “mistakes” as evidence of the human hand—honest, imperfect, and real. Each piece becomes a record of presence and a chapter of a legacy
As a Podcaster
For over a decade, I have used YouTube as a healing tool and vehicle for authentic self-expression. Beginning with art process and cooking videos, I later took to podcasting in an effort to explore subjects that were both fascinating and troubling to me in a time of recovery from a traumatic life event. In the first series, I interviewed some amazing guests on such ideas as Creativity Born of Trauma, Personal Paranormal Encounters, and Near Death Experiences. Currently, I am documenting my own journey through early neurological markers that are highly likey to lead to the future development of Parkinson's Disease or Lewy Body Dementia. These videos are a record in real time of my own discovery and progression as well as a way to inform and advocate for those on this same path. It is the best way I can imagine to use my skill set to make sense of what is out of my control and to help others.
On a Personal Note
Retired from New York corporate life and living in Florida with my husband and 2 large dogs, I believe life is a gift and time is precious. My daily goal is to live fully, take the best care of myself that I can manage, and love people with a sense of urgency (because tomorrow is not promised). I believe the urge to create is an expression of our Creator through us and something we all have within us. I believe music is the universal language and that dancing should always be an option. Most importantly, I believe the golden rule applies in every circumstance.
