Lorena is a second year PhD student in the organic track in the Conway group. She graduated from UCSD in 2023 with a bachelors degree in Pharmacological Chemistry. She first joined Professor Itay Budin and worked on the synthesis of artificial membranes and assaying physical properties of vesicles and liposomes. In 2022, she worked on the development of fluorescent probes for the detection of amyloids in the early stages of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) under Professor Jerry Yang. Lorena is originally from Ibague, Colombia and in her spare time, she likes going out with friends, hiking, going to new boba places, and playing TFT.
