Dani joined the group as a PhD student in September 2023. She is currently working on the development of small molecule probes to investigate the role of epigenetics in Leishmania parasite and the application of PROTAC technology in Schistosoma parasite. Dani is originally from Prague, Czechia and completed a 4-year long Master in Chemistry with Industrial Placement degree at University of St Andrews in Scotland. Her Master’s project was under the supervision of Prof Terry K Smith, exploring the use of cyclic dipeptides against protozoan parasites. She spent her year in industry at BASF in Germany where she worked under the supervision of Dr Matthias Witschel on the development of novel antimalarials and other antimicrobial agents. In her spare time, Dani loves playing beach volleyball and learning how to surf.
