By learning and fully embracing the intellectually challenging action of discussing controversial issues, humanity may be more well-rounded and accepting of new ideas and theologies. Without discussion, the world is a more hostile place where blatant objections will be made rather than intelligent and thoughtful conversation done both effectively and efficiently. By discussing controversial issues we---society as a whole---will be able to further develop the human condition to listen and understand another's argument without taking offense, which will help political debates as well as more minute ones.
