ContinueGPT is designed to help users preserve conversation context in AI chats. Our primary mission is to provide a seamless transition between chat sessions without compromising your personal data.

2. Information We Collect

The extension collect the following types of information only when explicitly triggered by the user. Conversation Content:When you click "Generate Prompt," the extension reads the visible text of your active ChatGPT session to create a structured summary.

*  Persona Preferences:
We save your selected role (e.g., Developer, Student) locally to provide a consistent experience.

*  Usage Metadata:
We store a local timestamp of your last request to manage rate limits (cooldown period).

3. How Data is Processed

We follow a strict "privacy-by-design" approach:

*   **Local Storage:
Your preferences and session metadata are stored strictly within your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`).

*   AI Summarization: To provide the continuation service, the extracted chat text is sent securely to our internal AI processing engine (hosted on Supabase Edge Functions). 

*   No Retention:We do not store your conversation history on our servers. The data is processed in real-time to generate your summary and is immediately discarded after the request is completed.

*   No Personal Identifiable Information (PII):We do not collect your name, email, account details, or browsing history outside of the active ChatGPT tab.

 4. Third-Party Services

ContinueGPT interacts with the following services to function:

*   OpenAI (ChatGPT): The extension reads data from chatgpt.com to function.

*   Supabase:We use Supabase Edge Functions for secure, server-side AI processing.

We do **not** sell, trade, or rent your data to any third-party marketing companies.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information during transmission. All communications between the extension and our processing functions are encrypted via HTTPS.

 6. Permissions Disclosure

To function correctly, ContinueGPT requires the following permissions:

*   `activeTab` & `scripting`: To access the visible text of your current AI chat when you trigger the extension.

*   `storage`: To remember your persona settings and manage cooldowns.

*   `clipboardWrite`: To allow you to easily copy the generated prompt with one click.
