• Note Content: All notes you create — including their titles, body text, tags, colors, and lock states — are stored exclusively on your device using a local Room (SQLite) database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it. • App Preferences: Display settings such as theme mode (dark/light/system), font family preference, and layout mode (list/grid) are stored locally in Android SharedPreferences. • Passcode: If you choose to lock notes, a one-way SHA-256 hash of your passcode is stored locally in SharedPreferences. The original passcode is never stored or transmitted. • No Account Required: ContextNotepad does not require user registration, login, or any form of online account. • No Usage Telemetry: We do not collect analytics, crash reports, usage statistics, or behavioral data of any kind.
• Note Storage & Retrieval: Your notes are saved and loaded from the local database so they persist between app sessions. • Search & Filtering: Note content is searched and filtered locally on-device; no data is sent to any external service during search. • Context Parsing: The app automatically detects phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, tracking codes, and hashtags within your note body to provide smart action chips. This parsing happens entirely on-device using pattern matching — no content is sent externally. • Lock & Security: Your SHA-256 passcode hash is used solely to verify your identity when unlocking a protected note. • AI / Third-Party Analysis: We do not analyse your note content with AI systems, third-party services, or external APIs of any kind.
• On-Device Storage: All notes are stored in a Room (SQLite) database on your device, protected by Android's built-in application sandbox. Other apps cannot access this data. • Passcode Hashing: If you enable note locking, your passcode is hashed using SHA-256 before storage. The original PIN is never written to disk or transmitted. • No Cloud Backup by Default: ContextNotepad does not integrate with any cloud backup service (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc.). Your notes are not automatically backed up to any external server. • Android Backup Service: If you have Android Auto-Backup enabled at the OS level, Android may back up the app's local data (including notes) to your Google account as part of the standard Android device backup. This is controlled entirely by your Android system settings, not by ContextNotepad itself. • Encryption at Rest: We recommend enabling device-level encryption through your Android settings for maximum security. ContextNotepad's database benefits from this encryption automatically. • Data Access: Only you, through ContextNotepad, can access your note data. No employee, developer, or third party has access to the note database stored on your device.
• Google AdMob: The app displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address, and general location to serve relevant ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can opt out of personalised ads through your device's Ads settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation). • ML Kit Text Recognition (OCR): When you use the "Scan Page with Camera" or "Import from Gallery" feature, images are processed by Google's ML Kit on-device OCR library. Image analysis is performed entirely on your device; images are not uploaded to any server. • No Analytics SDKs: We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any other analytics or crash-reporting SDK. • No Social SDKs: We do not include Facebook, Twitter, or any other social-media SDK. • No Advertising Networks beyond AdMob: We do not partner with any other advertising or tracking network.
• CAMERA (optional): Required only if you use the "Scan Page with Camera" feature to photograph and extract text from a document. The camera is never activated without your explicit action. • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (optional): Required only if you use the "Import from Gallery" feature to select an image for OCR text extraction. Storage access is never used for any other purpose. • INTERNET: Required for loading Google AdMob banner advertisements. The app does not otherwise communicate with the internet. • AD_ID: Required by Google AdMob to serve personalised advertisements. You can opt out of ad personalisation in your device's Google settings.
No permission is requested for contacts, location, microphone, phone calls, SMS, calendar, or any other sensitive data source. All permission requests are optional features — you can deny them and continue using all core note-taking functionality.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since ContextNotepad stores all data locally on your device and does not require account creation or personal information, there is no mechanism by which we would collect data from a child specifically.
However, because the app serves Google AdMob advertisements, which may collect advertising identifiers, we recommend that parents review the AdMob content settings and consider disabling personalised ads on devices used by children.

• Access Your Data: All your notes are viewable directly within ContextNotepad. There is no hidden data store. • Delete Your Data: You may delete individual notes, multiple notes using the multi-select feature, or all notes at once by clearing the app's data through Android Settings → Apps → ContextNotepad → Storage → Clear Data. Clearing app data permanently removes all notes, preferences, and passcode hashes from your device. • Export Your Data: You can export any note as plain text, Markdown (.md), or PDF using the Share button in the note editor. • Opt Out of Personalised Ads: Open Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation, or enable "Delete advertising ID" to prevent AdMob from using your advertising identifier. • Revoke Permissions: You can revoke Camera or Storage permissions at any time through Android Settings → Apps → ContextNotepad → Permissions without affecting core note-taking functionality. • GDPR / CCPA: If you are an EU or California resident, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data, as well as the right to object to processing. Since we do not collect or process personal data ourselves (beyond what remains on your device), most of these rights apply directly through your control of the device. For AdMob-related data rights, please refer to Google's data deletion process at myaccount.google.com.
• Update the "Effective Date" at the top of the Privacy Policy. • Where feasible, notify users through a visible notice within the app.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of ContextNotepad after any changes become effective constitutes your acknowledgement of and agreement to the updated policy.
