Dear CASLV Parents and Guardians,
As part of our comprehensive Mathematics program, CASLV is excited to offer students opportunities to engage in challenging mathematical experiences beyond the standard curriculum. This year, students in grades 5 and above can participate in our weekend school program, focusing on prestigious competitions such as MATHCOUNTS, American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), and other math contests.
Our weekend math education sessions are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in Olympiad-level competitions. Please note that this program is not intended for math remediation or tutoring; it is a dedicated platform for students to immerse themselves in rigorous math competitions.
To assist with your planning, we have provided the tentative 2024-2025 weekend school calendar.
We are offering the following courses, each tailored to different skill levels and competition types:
Who Should Enroll: This class is ideal for middle and elementary school students who are new to math competitions or wish to build a strong foundation in problem-solving. If you scored below 15 on the placement test, this class will help strengthen your core skills.
Topics Covered:
Basic number theory, algebra, geometry, and combinatorics
Problem-solving techniques
Understanding competition formats and practice with past questions
Schedule: Saturdays, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM (virtually via Zoom)
Fee: $150 for the 2024-2025 school year
Who Should Enroll: Designed for middle and elementary school students with prior competition experience or those who excel in math and are ready for more challenging problems. If you scored 15 or higher on the placement test, this is the class for you.
Topics Covered:
Advanced techniques in number theory, algebra, geometry, and combinatorics
Solving multi-step problems
In-depth competition preparation and strategies
Schedule: Saturdays, 11:15 AM – 12:30 PM (virtually via Zoom)
Fee: $150 for the 2024-2025 school year
Who Should Enroll: Aimed at high school students preparing for the AMC 10 or AMC 12 competitions. Exceptionally well-prepared middle school students with a strong math background and a history of competition success may also consider enrolling.
Topics Covered:
Algebra, geometry, number theory, probability, and advanced problem-solving
Techniques for approaching abstract and complex problems
Focused preparation on AMC 10/12 past questions and strategies to qualify for the AIME
Schedule: Sundays, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM (virtually via Zoom)
Fee: $150 for the 2024-2025 school year
Please note: The schedule may be subject to changes due to contest schedules and unforeseen circumstances.
To help determine the best class for your student, please complete the Google Form placement test to decide which AMC/MATHCOUNTS class to register for.
Middle/Elementary School Students: Choose between MATHCOUNTS/AMC 8 Basics or Advanced. Exceptionally well-prepared students may consider AMC 10/12.
High School Students: Register for AMC 10/12.
This test is an excellent way to assess readiness and ensure placement in a class that will promote growth and success in these competitions.

Note:
If your child intends to enroll in multiple courses, please submit a separate registration form for each course.
In case a class reaches capacity, indicate your preferred course in the last question of the form.
Any applicable fees will be added to the student's Infinite Campus account.
Fee waivers may be available for students eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch and those in need.
