"When I was born, Tia Connie helped my mom. I was told she would put me over her shoulder, clean and cook for my mom. She was always there for me. When my mom would tell us Tia Connie was coming over to visit, we [brother John and sister Adrina] would get all excited. We loved hearing these two ladies talk. I remember when we were told that Shalini was going to be adopted and my siblings were so thrilled we were going to get a Little Sister! Tia Connie was so happy. Then, when we were told she was adopting a boy, we knew Omar would fit right in with the LOPEZ boys. Tia Connie was a mom to all of us and I have a lot of great memories. I know she is now with Nana, Tia Martha, Tia Lupe, Cousin David, Tio Frank Lopez and Tio Frank Durkee. Your mom would be so proud of you two. I know I am. "

"I have so many pictures of our mothers together and what I have noticed in the majority of them is that they were either laughing, talking or eating. The love of friendship was real. Now that they are together again, I would bet that they are once again hugging, laughing and always and forever talking. Sending much love to you Omar and your families. xoxox"

"Your mom was an amazing woman, a trailblazer, so strong, fun and intelligent. She loved her family fiercely, especially you, Omar, and our kids. She was such a wonderful mom, spectacular Nana, and a gracious mother-in-law. She helped me so much when Taylor and Zack were little. I admired, appreciated and loved her, too. I am so sorry you have been losing her for so many years to this terrible disease. Like I told Omar, I believe now that she is in heaven, she will look down at you on earth, know you again, and be so proud of you. I am so grateful that my kids had such an incredibly loving Nana. Your mom was a blessing to many. "
