Constantinos Kitsos
Welcome to my page!
I am a researcher in Control Theory, more particularly, control of systems of coupled partial differential equations (with underactuations), nonlinear observers for finite and infinite dimension and inverse problems for partial differential equations. Applications of such approaches include (bio)chemical, multiphysics, population and social dynamics phenomena, evolutionary game theory, superconductivity, spatio-temporal neural networks, tumor growth models, oceanic and atmosperic phenomena, electrical waves in transmission lines, aeroelasticity, thermoelasticity, ocean and seismic prospection etc.
I have been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Electrical Engineering, Tel Aviv University in Israel working with Prof. Emilia Fridman since 2021 and prior to that, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS) of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Toulouse, France working with Lucie Baudouin within the MAC group (Methods and Algorithms for Control) from 2020 to 2021. I am a member of the national research project "ODISSE" (Observer Design for Infinite-dimensional SyStEm), funded by the french Agence Nationale de la Recherche.
In Sep 2020, I obtained my Ph.D. in Control Theory / Applied Mathematics co-directed by Christophe Prieur and Gildas Besançon. I had been a doctoral researcher at the Control Systems department (GIPSA-lab) of Université Grenoble Alpes (Grenoble INP), France since Oct 2017 and my thesis was entitled "High-gain observer design for systems of PDEs (Partial Differential Equations)", with Ph.D. committee: Jean-Michel Coron (President), Vincent Andrieu and Fabian Wirth (reviewers), Federico Bribiesca Argomedo and Iasson Karafyllis (examiners), report of the jury: here.
Nominated for the Award of the best thesis in France in the area of Systems and Control by the "GdR MACS" (CNRS, INS2I, INSIS) (the French Automatic Control community) and the "Section Automatique du Club EEA" (Researcher Club in Electronics, Electrotechnics, and Automatic Control) .
Prior to these, I obtained an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics and a Diploma (MEng) in Electrical & Computer Engineering, both from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece.
