I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis (CMVS) within the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Oulu, Finland. Under the leadership of Associate Professor Miguel Bordallo López, my focus is on Computer vision, Artificial Intelligence and Vision Systems Engineering. In 2023, I completed my doctoral studies in Computer Science (D.Sc., Tech) at the University of Oulu, Finland, under the supervision of Associate Professor Miguel Bordallo. Prior to that, I have studied my B.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Vigo in Spain. In 2020, I completed my M.Sc. in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oulu.
With over 5 years of industry experience, I have honed my expertise in computer vision and embedded systems. Previously, I worked as an R&D Engineer at prominent organizations such as the Galician R&D Center in Advanced Telecommunications (GRADIANT) in Spain and Visidon Ltd in Finland. Throughout my career, I have contributed to numerous industrial research projects, including those supported by the European Union and Business Finland. My work has involved developing core technologies, applications, and software development kits (SDKs) for face analysis on desktop computers, mobile devices, and embedded systems. Notably, the outcomes of my efforts are currently being utilized in various commercial applications, with code deployed on over 1 billion smartphones (see https://www.visidon.fi/) and adopted by major players in the Spanish banking and retail sectors (see https://www.gradiant.org/en/technologies/biometrics/).
Beyond my research and development skills, I have accumulated over 15 years of experience in live sound engineering and technical production management for world-class artists. These roles have not only allowed me to further develop my expertise in signal processing, acoustics, and electronics but have also enhanced my ability to thrive under high-pressure environments and assume significant responsibilities. Additionally, my experiences in these roles have strengthened my collaboration and teamwork skills.
