Our Story

In 2012 ago a young woman (Catherine Hooper), newly engaged, moved to the Central Coast to be with her love. She had previously played her flute with a wonderful ensemble in Newcastle and wanted to find something similar on the Central Coast. Alas such a group did not exist. This did not stop her though and she bravely messaged all the flute teachers she could find on the Central Coast to ask if any might like to get together with her and play some music.

Two of those teachers (Nicole Wyatt and Rosalie Bourne) responded and the trio met for coffee (so as to ensure safety in this modern world) and found that they all got along well and were excited to make music together “just for fun”. Thus, Conspirito was born however it wasn’t called that yet!

Like all good tales no one knows quite how or when it happened but that trio grew in number and no longer fitted in lounge rooms. They moved their rehearsals to a local guide hall and officially became the Conspirito Community Flute Ensemble.

In 2018 this group of music lovers moved to a new rehearsal space at the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music and rehearses approximately once a month on a Sunday afternoon culminating in an end of year concert in support of a local charity.

Our ability level varies from those who have been playing for only a short time through to those who have made music our career but our love of the flute and the music we make is the glue that binds us. Through this ensemble we have made friends whom we would otherwise have never met and we have found a little bit of time for ourselves in this crazy busy world.

Our Committee

We are lucky to call the Central Coast Conservatorium home and our membership is administrated through the Conservatorium however we are and will continue to be a COMMUNITY ensemble and as such we have elected a committee to ensure that our group continues in the spirit in which it was created and to provide our membership with a trusted point of communication within our beautiful Conspirito family.
