By train:
The Vitoria-Gasteiz train station is located on the south side of the city center, just a 2 minute walk from the university. If you're travelling from Spain, Portugal, or France, this is likely your most convenient way of getting here.
By plane:
Vitoria-Gasteiz has its own airport with a limited number of direct flights from several cities in Spain and elsewhere in Europe, including Brussels (Charleroi) and Milan (Bergamo). Information and tickets for the bus route that connects the airport with the city may be found here.
The largest nearby airport is in Bilbao, which has a more daily flights to a variety of destinations. The airport is about 75 km away from Vitoria-Gasteiz, which can be reached by bus in about an hour and 45 minutes. There is a direct bus line that connects the Bilbao airport with the Vitoria-Gasteiz city center (A3720), but you can also take the bus to the Bilbao Intermodal bus station and get a bus to Vitoria-Gasteiz from there (A3714). The latter option has more frequent service but will of course take slightly longer. Bus tickets for both options may be purchased here.
This year's ConSOLE35 will be held at the Micaela Portilla Research Center, at the Álava Campus of the University of the Basque Country (Justo Vélez de Elorriaga Kalea, 1, 01006 Vitoria-Gasteiz). The building houses the offices and labs for several of our linguistics research groups as well as clasroom and study spaces.
The Tourist Office has a list of recommendations and ideas for you to make the most of your downtime here.
