The Sony Playstation doesn't come too far back as it's origination started of with the Playstation 1 which launched in 1994 December 3rd first being sold in Japan then across the globe. Although for what Sony have done just in 26 years is quite amazing. Here is a quick run through of the evolution of Sony Playstation talking about the colours, memory, graphics, games, its success, price and fun facts.
The Playstation 1 the beginning of the Sony Playstation console line. It was released on December 3rd 1996 and came in various colours such as grey, white, black, green and blue. Roughly over 7000 games could be played on the PS1 and all in colour all at the price of $299. This console made a total of 102.45 million units sold over 12 years!! Fun Fact about the PS1 is that its road to fame was the help of one particular game called Grand Turismo which made over 10 million in sales.
The Playstation 2 which came after was released on March 4th 2000 priced at $299. It had come in different colours such as: black, white, red, yellow, purple, 3 types of blue and a more futuristic look silver. This very console had introduced a whole new level of games which included the Call of Duty, Grand theft auto, WWE and Fifa/PES franchises along with some of my personal favourites like Crash Bandicoot, Simpsons Hit and run and Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. Fun Fact about this awesome console its the highest selling console in history selling 158 million units!! (including the PS2 slim which was priced at $299) For another Fun Fact about the PS2 check out the Twitter page which will be in the contact section above.
The Playstation 3 which was released on 11 December 2006 which was another successful console. At a whopping $599, this was able to run on HD graphics on TV using a HDMI cable unlike the PS2 which was not compatible. The PS3 had countless games to play and the benefit was it had a built in hard drive which was available in 20, 40, 60, 80 or 160GB. Later on the trend of making consoles slimmer lighter and worth more was introduced which led Sony to release the PS3 Slim and Super Slim which was priced at $299 in 120,160, 250, and 320GB which was a game changer as it meant it more games can be played.
The Sony Playstation 4 which is still played to this day is the big twist in gaming console. Released on 15 November 2013 at the original price of $399 and later on the slim and pro would be released roughly the same. This had a built in hard drive of 500GB to 2TB which is a massive jump from the PS3. The colours of the Sony console and other consoles stuck to black and white with the trends of limited edition consoles. This sold over 115 million units with countless games to play. Fun Fact about the PS4 PRO is that its able to stream 4K graphics bringing users a whole new gaming experience.
