Director's Note:
What happens when a middle schooler from a time traveling family takes a mob boss and their brainrot bestie back in time to the medieval tavern where their family’s treasure is hidden? Well lets just say there is going to be some magical drama!
Our devising process started with three line scenes created by the acting students. It quickly became clear that this group enjoys bringing fantastical elements and characters into their storytelling, so we decided that our story would involve time traveling to the medieval times. From there each student created their own character that could exist in that world, then we found ways to build connections between the characters and develop a story arc. Each performer contributed (so so many) ideas and dialogue to our finished product. We have utilized all of our actor’s tools in the process: Body, Voice, Focus, Imagination and Collaboration. To my Acting 1 Kiddos: you’re awesome, I’m so proud of you, have fun and break legs!

Two Chairs and a Table started with just that—two chairs, a table, and a group of students ready to create. With no fancy sets or big props, the focus became all about character and connection. Through a series of short, vignette-style scenes, the students explored relationships, moments, and emotions, building stories from the ground up. It was all about using what we had and letting creativity lead the way. I’m so proud of how this group dove into the process, took risks, and brought their characters to life in creative ways.

The guests must work together to figure out who did the murdering before time runs out in this retelling of the classic boardgame, "Clue". Early in the semester the Acting 3 students spent a class period to play a lifesize version of "Clue", complete with accusations, individualized characters, rooms, and weapons, and full of improvizational moments. What you see on the stage is pretty close to what happened in the room. Now, put on your detective hats, take out your note taking devises, and help enjoy "It was _____, In the Bathroom, with the Curling Iron (Clue in 15 minutes)

Our main skill we worked on this semester has been puppetry. We began this semester learning the history of puppetry, which began around Greek/Roman times as a device for political commentary. As soon as the class heard about this, they were sold on devising a political show. We had the conversation of what exactly do we want to commentate on and landed on censorship through the means of banned books. This political puppet show has been so fun to explore, and we are so excited for you to see their hard work!
Tomorrow Belongs to Me follows Jacques Vichi, a scholar visiting a new country eager to learn. However, things are not what they seem. This new land has strict censorship regulations that were enforced by government officials. Jacques has a chance to speak to the head of the government, John Patriot. Will Jacques challenge Patriot’s policies or will pledge his allegiance to this new land?
Special thank you to Thomas Underdal, Scott Burnam, and Academy Admin for the puppets!

Good Fortune follows a grieving patron who wanders into a mysterious fortune-telling shop in search of answers. Inside, she meets a woman with an extraordinary gift — the ability to reveal the many past lives she and her late sister shared across time, worlds, and possibilities.
As the patron journeys through these visions, she begins to understand her grief, her memories, and the enduring bond between them in a new and healing way.
In this showcase, each pair of actors has created and performed a unique “past life” together — entirely student-written and co-directed. These duos explore siblinghood, friendship, conflict, joy, loss, and connection through a variety of genres and theatrical styles, all imagined and devised by the students themselves.
Good Fortune celebrates their creativity, collaboration, and the power of storytelling to help us heal, remember, and rediscover hope.

The Journey of High School is a story that follows the “New Kids” as they become accustomed to a new environment. They are faced with the challenging reality of division within the school. The New Kids ask the question “Where do we belong?” In the process, they discover a daunting truth. Nothing will change if no one steps up.
This story uses stereotypical characters to represent the truth behind us all: we all want to be seen. There is beauty in our differences, and we must learn to embrace one another.
Each character is selected and created by the students of Musical Theatre 1. They have curated the personality of their character to enhance the story.
We hope you enjoy a slice of dramedy through The Journey of High School!

The Princess and the People of Purpose is a short story inspired by Disney's "The Princess and the Frog." We pulled themes from the film and carved new pieces into the story by adding characters from films like Wicked and Tinkerbell. We decided to dive into the world of fairytale, while amplifying the message of togetherness and hope. A piece about purposeful people protecting their community, highlighting friendship, love and diversity. This semester I challenged students to take risks and find the beauty within their characters. We workshopped regularly throughout this process and focused on our "why" with each transition. Some our focuses included projection, character analysis, and exploring the beautiful world of movement. To my MT 2 students: It has been one of my greatest honors getting to work with you all throughout this process. I truly hope you've enjoyed these moments as much as I have. You are all so so special and I am deeply proud of the creative lights you've all shared. I will hold our piece in my heart forever. Congratulations, superstars.

Ten strangers are summoned to a remote island. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they're unwilling to reveal and a secret that will seal their fate. For each has been marked for murder. As the weather turns and the group is cut off from the mainland, the bloodbath begins and one by one they are brutally murdered in accordance with the lines of a sinister nursery rhyme.
Welcome to part two of tonight’s Agatha Christie double feature. In addition to their ensemble role, each student took on one or more production roles, bringing their creativity and style in multiple ways. They all took to their roles with gusto, often completing their designs faster than I had expected. I’m incredibly proud of their dedication!

Musical theatre level 5 have crafted this piece to celebrate the uniquie expression of music and dance, showcasing some show stopping numbers that theatre has gifted us. This semester has been a bit of a roller coaster for level 5, but they handled every challenge with stregnth and composure. we would like to thank the class for allowing us to join in their process, and couldn't be more proud of their hard work and dedication in creating this piece

What's YETi?
Y.E.T.i (Youth Ensemble Theatre Inc.) is a theatre production ensemble created to give high school students the opportunity to take part in the full frontier of theatre. Founded in January of 2015, Y.E.T.i members manage everything from production and marketing, to fundraising and outreach. With the assistance of the resident Childsplay staff, these teens organize and execute all of the tasks of a professional theatre.
Each season (twice a year), ensemble members will work together select a production and then spend the semester creating the production from the ground up. From designing, to marketing, and from performing to casting, this production will truly be in the hands of the teen ensemble.
