Conservation Heroes are community organizers, scientists, and people who work to protect and foster the human-connection to nature. Conservation Heroes represent diverse identities*, diverse Places, and diverse knowledges.
Sometimes we think about conservation being done by "historical figures," or in far off places full of lions and tigers and bears. In reality, Conservation Heroes work in the places we live, and are people in our communities. They demonstrate that conservation can start in your own home and can have a big impact.
*We consider diversity of identities on many intersecting axes, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, ability, disability, neurodiversity, educational background, and socioeconomic background.
The goal of the Conservation Heroes Project is to highlight Conservation Heroes and how they do their work. The Conservation Heroes website is a crowdsourced database of people who represent diverse identities, perspectives, and experiences in conservation. You can nominate Conservation Heroes here! New Conservation Heroes will be added regularly. Follow our social media to discover new heroes.
