What was life like on the home front for the people who refused to fight? Conscientious objection is often discussed in relation to WWI, but in fact there were far more conscientious objectors (or COs) in WWII. Drawing on personal accounts and debates from the time, as well as a new database of information on tens of thousands of the nation's 60,000+ COs, this lesson enables students to engage critically with the history and moral choices of 1940s Britain.
