I am currently looking to pursue a career regarding Forensics Engineering within the U.S. Navy, starting with a degree in mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering as a whole has always interested me since I was a young child. Once I learned of the Tech Center, I realized the Tech Center is a viable gateway into a career path with a mechanical engineering focus. I was prompted to enter the field of forensics engineering by experiencing a walk around of my mother’s place of employment and seeing the job that a Naval Officer held. The job was forensics engineering and this job interested me. I decided that this field of study interested me due to prior fascination and due to the fact that the career path appears to be something I could put forth all of my effort into while also having it as a full time job.
I participate in ROTC and play lacrosse. Both of these activities are teamwork dependent and require you to be well versed in your fields of knowledge, along with being able to make decisions quickly and exercise your ability to take charge and lead. I participate in Club Lacrosse and another valuable lesson learned from my time doing the sport outside of school is how to cooperate with people I am not familiar with and have no prior experience with. The skill will be critical for changing environments and learning how to move with the influx and outflow of employees while being a forensics engineer. Having the skill will allow me to perform at my highest potential and allow others around me to do so as well. I am currently employed at a takeout restaurant and I’ve learned that you can’t satisfy everyone, so the best course of action would be to focus on doing the best you’re capable of and ensuring the quality of your work is as high as it can be.
After achieving my career goal, I will affect the community by bringing forth my maximum effort and striving to improve the environment around me while still focusing on my own performance. I will affect the society in which I live by doing my part and successfully performing my job as best I can in order to not create a dependency on others and to avoid having people depend on me too heavily, sparking awareness and effort within the society around me. I will strive to be the best forensics engineer I can be in order to improve the world around me, successfully doing my job and doing my part to contribute to the world. I strive to have a positive impact on the world. Due to the sheer scale of the world, it is unlikely I will make a difference.
I plan to take a route of mechanical engineering and get my degrees in it. It is unlikely that I’ll join the military but it may end up being a requirement for forensics engineering. If I do need to join the military, it will be the Navy. It is unlikely that I’ll go to a community college, as it will not fit my goals very well and a four-year college/university would be better suited for my goals. I will likely plan to attend a four-year college or university in an effort to get my master’s in mechanical engineering, as that is a requirement for forensics engineering and will allow me to explore other career paths in the process. If a college/university does not end up being the best path for me, a trade school will likely be my alternative in an effort to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. I am aiming to work as an apprentice in an attempt to gain valuable experience and knowledge outside of school and other environments. I am planning to go straight into the workforce, as it will be necessary for funding numerous goals. It is highly likely that my career plan will change over time due to the fluidity of the economy and numerous industries. By the time I graduate, my plan may be different from where it currently is, however, I am aiming to continue my education and experience gathering elsewhere.
The classes I have taken so far to support my goal of eventual forensics engineering are Honors Physics, AP Pre-Calculus, and Honors Algebra 2. These classes have been an instrumental part of my learning and I believe that between these classes and future classes, I will be able to achieve my eventual goal of forensics engineering. I was in the STEM program for 5 years to gather an abundance of knowledge and hands-on engineering experience that will assist me in the future and allow me to have a decent start on my career path and to be able to participate at a high level in classes set along that career path. I have learned the importance of not skipping over small details and to not cut corners, along with how to micromanage. These particular skills were discovered during my time at the Tech Center and I firmly believe they will develop further along the course of my time in the engineering program.
