Resilience
For the past two years I have led a research project with a team of six. For the first year of the project we received guidance and funding from a professor. Out of the blue over the summer he decided to leave WPI entirely, taking all funding and guidance with him. Refusing to give up I looked for funding options. I ended up finding the WPI Tinkerbox program. I successfully pitched the project to the board and received $3000 in funding for the project.
Communicating Team Goals
On my MQP team I took the lead of all things ECE. In this role I was able to guide my teammates by giving them specific tasks that they could do to help me. Specific achievable tasks gave the team milestones to reach towards and the motivation to push forward.
Leading Teams of Diverse Skillsets
My research project is made up of a team of various majors. To work within the team everyone is assigned tasks based on what they want to learn about and what they’re best at. This has involved giving the ME students lead on manufacturing or RBE students lead on 3D printing.
Ideation
I’m often known as the “ideas guy” . This has shown up in many of the projects I have worked on. From spewing out crazy ideas myself to encouraging others to give theirs.
